This blew my mind when I read it. I think it’s in the company’s best interest to close down for the holiday to better the company’s relationship with their employees. This may take a hit to the income of the company, but for some of these companies that don’t really put on a large Black Friday sale, then it wouldn’t be that large of a bullet to bite and they would have a great employee relationship.
Some franchises want to switch the focus from sales to the giving spirit of the season. With this new “Giving Tuesday” concept, customers will have more of an incentive to buy and stores would have more of an incentive to sell all while helping out those in need.
